
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jameson; 2 September 1966)[3][4][5[5]] is a Mexican and American actor and film producer. Her film career began in Mexico which she played in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) that earned her an Ariel Award nomination. She soon established herself in Hollywood with appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) which she also directed she became the first Mexican actress to be nominated to the Academy Award for Best Actress[6] and additionally earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films, while starring in action-oriented movies like Once Upon a Time in Mexico in subsequent years.
