Kellie pickler
Though she was never crowned with an "American Idol" award, Kellie Pickler was one of the most popular alumni from the show. She was born Kellie Dawn Pickler the 28th of June 1986 at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. Her mother was only 16 when she became expecting her. Pickler experienced a challenging childhood because of her addiction to drugs and alcohol abuse, as her mother abandoned her at the age of 2. Morton was able to gain the custody of Pickler for two years. But, Pickler acknowledged that not things went according to plan. "I recall that my mother as well as me sitting in the same kitchen and I told her 'I'd rather die than be there with you. I'd like God could take me away.' She pulled the kitchen knife out and put it on the counter. After that, she told me: "Here you go." I was in the fourth grade. She told me "Of obviously, I could not have done anything about it. However, it been a long time since I've had emotional bruises." The court eventually handed Pickler to her grandparent when she turned 12 years old and Morton didn't show at the case. Pickler was raised with her mother and grandmother throughout her life. She cites them as being the most influential people throughout her life. On January 1, 2002, her grandmother Faye Pickler passed away from lung cancer. The family she was raised by was her grandfather. Pickler was a graduate of the North Stanly High School in New London (North Carolina).
